ROADBLOCKS WRECK ECONOMY, CRUSH AUTO PARTS SECTOR
Share
The government’s decision to recklessly block national highways, motorways, city entry and exit points, and main roads with containers ahead of the November 24 protest is yet another example of its incompetence wreaking havoc on Pakistan’s economy.
Among the many industries affected, the aftermarket auto parts sector faces a significant blow. With roads closed and vehicles immobilized, the number of kilometers driven plummets, leading to reduced wear and tear on vehicles. This directly translates to a decline in demand for parts replacements and routine servicing a critical revenue stream for the sector.
Workshops, retailers, and service providers, already struggling in a shaky economic climate, now face an artificial downturn caused solely by the government’s shortsighted and heavy-handed measures. Instead of addressing public concerns responsibly, the state has chosen to sabotage businesses, causing outrage and economic setbacks across the board.
